Golfing
Our close proximity to the "Golf Capital of the World" in Augusta serves to ensure that
residents and visitors alike keep an incurable case of golf fever.
Add to that a mild climate making golfing possible year-round with 20+ golf courses in the
area, several driving ranges, and natural beauty made famous by the most prestigious golf
event in the world, and you have a golfer's paradise.
The Master's Golf Tournament turns all attention to golf during the first full week of
April each year as the best players the sport has to offer come to play the Augusta National.
Equally as magnificent as witnessing the masters of the game in their quest for the coveted
Green Jacket is taking in the awesome beauty of the Augusta National. Although tickets to
the tournament are difficult to acquire, tickets for the practice rounds on Monday through
Wednesday are a bit easier to come by. Application should be made to the Augusta National
office in order to be included in those selected by lottery to attend the practice rounds.
It is difficult to be within our area of Georgia, referred to as the Classic South, and be
too far away from many golf courses. The Best Western White Columns Inn offers
packages for one
nights lodging, dinner in our award winning Plantation House Restaurant (Monday - Saturday),
a hot, buffet breakfast, green fees, and cart fees for two. A sampling of courses
conveniently located to our hotel are as follows: Belle Meade Country Club-Thomson, Georgia;
Jones Creek Golf Club-Evans, Georgia; Three Oaks-Harlem, Georgia; Rocky Branch-Lincolnton,
Georgia; Augusta Golf Course-Augusta, Georgia, or The Course at White Rock-Warrenton, Georgia.
